Brexit: round nine

Negotiations between the EU and the UK continue to grind on, with the ninth round of talks raising hopes that an implementation agreement might be reached this month.

However, this is by no means certain – and in any event, some changes will apply from that date regardless.

Perhaps the most challenging area of uncertainty for the food sector relates to trade between Great Britain and Northern Ireland, where so far the UK-EU joint committee has been unable to provide much clarity.

Some of the areas where change will be required are explored on the EU exit food hub, which was established by trade associations (including nabim) as a central point of reference.

It also contains links to UK and EU preparatory documents (often the latter are a bit clearer) and will be updated as events develop in the next few days.

As ever, we will keep you posted on any developments should they occur.
