Keeping up the pressure as Brexit deadline looms

The first few days of December look likely to see the final effort to reach agreement on a Brexit deal before the end of the year.

In meetings with Michael Gove and George Eustice, we have continued to raise concerns about the impact of tariffs on grain imports and flour exports, the uncertainties about the application of bread and flour regulations in trade with Northern Ireland, and opportunities to test new systems such as the Trader Support Service (TSS) and Customs Declaration Service (CDS) with real life examples.

This has resulted in a government publication giving more detail on the application of bread and flour regulations in Northern Ireland, circulated to members in the last week of November.

As the deadline approaches, we will keep you updated on further developments.
