NEW ROLE FOR CLAYTON

After more than 20 years’ service with the Association, Clayton Freedland has been appointed company secretary Incorporated National Association of British and Irish Millers Limited (the legal entity used by UK Flour Millers).

He takes over from Nigel Bennett, who will continue in a part-time role concentrating exclusively on training.

Clayton joined the Association in 2000 as accounts assistant and became financial controller in 2010 after qualifying as a chartered certified accountant. In that year he also became company secretary of the corporate trustee of the Association’s pension scheme.

His new role includes being company secretary for a further five companies that are used by the Association and its sister organisation.

He will be responsible for the keeping of the register of directors and members, recording charges over the company assets and ensuring that minutes of board and general meetings are kept. In addition, the company secretary is required to ensure that the correct returns are made to Companies House, appropriate documentary record keeping is in place and that directors are advised of their duties and responsibilities.

Clayton works a three day week with UK Flour Millers and with the rest of his time he and his wife Vanessa work as volunteer ministers with a Spanish language congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in East London. During their spare time they enjoy walking near their home in Epping Forest, cooking, baking and (when Covid 19 doesn’t prevent them) travelling.
