Training & development

240229 2096

For over 100 years, we have supported the milling industry through tailored training and development programmes. With the aim of bettering employees, their businesses, and the industry overall, these courses work with students to bolster their skills and knowledge in the ways that they learn best.

At UK Flour Milles, we understand the challenges of chieving work-life balances and how it can hinder training activities. While the training may not look the same, the content remains timeless. Lectures, paper and pen, and wooden desks are items of the past that have been modernised with mobile devices like smartphones, bite-sized learning, and the Virtual Mill. We’ve designed our programmes with modern, busy life in mind by providing easy access, support, and flexibility in our trainings.

Investing in people

The flour milling industry is a highly skilled and challenging industry, with training and education playing a vital role for employee development. Our world-renowned flour milling courses are available to flour millers, people working in flour mills, and other industry players in the UK and overseas.

We offer two main training programmes, including the Distance Learning Programme and Advanced Milling Diploma—available for those in the UK who completed all seven of the Distance Learning Programme modules successfully.

The future of our training programme

Much work has also been done over the years on promoting practical milling skills, including a Craft Skills Certificate, Occupational Standards, and Proficiency Qualifications. Recently, the focus has been more on the identification of suitable apprenticeship routes. Keep an eye out for future updates.
