The availability of FFP3 masks – a normal requirement for certain tasks within a flour milling operation – has proved hugely challenging during the Covid-19 outbreak.
Most companies have managed to get by, but only with careful planning and a lot of time spent in sourcing new stock from suppliers, who did not always appear to be consistent in either their policymaking or delivering on time and to specification.
Members will be aware that nabim has been active in lobbying government to distinguish between these face masks and the face coverings the public is being instructed or advised to wear on public transport and in enclosed areas.
We have also encouraged the CBI to remind its members that they should not go for the easy option of over-protecting their workforce with PPE – which should, in any case, be a last resort measure, and which would be better utilised in healthcare or industrial scenarios such as milling.
