UK FLOUR MILLERS PUBLISHED THE ONLINE WHEAT GUIDE 2025
UK Flour Millers’ Wheat Guide 2025 shares miller variety preferences and information that can help farmers and agronomists
The Wheat Guide 2025, now available online via UK Flour Millers’ website, can help farmers and agronomists understand millers’ preferences.
Complementing Agriculture and Horticulture Board’s (AHDB) Recommended List (RL), the Wheat Guide 2025 provides the flour milling industry’s view on wheat varieties including their relative values in the milling market. It also shares details on the new UKFM Group 1 winter wheat varieties, SY Cheer and KWS Vibe.
UK Flour Millers’ Head of Technical and Regulatory Affairs, Joe Brennan, said, “The Wheat Guide is a tool we produce each year to help farmers and agronomists understand the general milling industry view of varieties. However, we emphasise each mill may differ in their preferences, so it’s best for growers to understand the needs of their local mills to maximise value—UK Flour Millers’ mill map can help farmers get in contact with their local mills for this.”
To determine wheat quality groups, millers work closely with breeders and test varieties over three harvests to form a clear, consensus view on quality and importantly, the consistency of quality across seasons.
To support industry best practices, the guide reinforces messaging around how careful crop selection and proper storage can safeguard food safety. It also warns that failing to keep wheat varieties separate may reduce their commercial appeal.
The Wheat Guide 2025 can be downloaded from UK Flour Millers’ website. Farmers, agronomists, and industry professionals who would like a printed version of the document can reach out with the request.
