Current vacancy: Training Manager

UK Flour Millers is the trade association for the flour milling industry in Great Britain and Ireland. We represent a sector that plays a crucial part in the food chain, as flour is an ingredient in approximately one third of foods available in a typical supermarket. In addition to our role as advocates for the flour milling industry, we provide training programmes for millers in the UK and many other countries where English is a common language. These are mainly distance learning programmes, supplemented with some short face to face sessions; distance learning programmes offer a combination of dedicated course materials, in house learning, on-line tutor support and written examination. In recent years we have created an internet based “virtual mill” as a learning and teaching resource and will be looking to develop this further. We also offer more advanced training for millers developing into management roles. We are looking for someone with talent and enthusiasm to take our training programmes forward. This is an important role within the flour milling industry, working closely with our members companies which rely on well trained, technically able staff to deliver world leading standards of production, hygiene and efficiency. To succeed in this role, you will not need to be an expert in flour milling but are likely to have the following skills and experience:

  1. Experience in and commitment to the development and administration of training programmes (distance learning a particular advantage).

  2. Experience in trade association and/or agri-food an advantage.

  3. Happy working in various IT media, including the virtual world; the greater the experience, the greater the advantage.

  4. You will be a good communicator (oral and written) and administrator.

  5. You will need to be self-motivated, as well as flexible and open in terms of subject matter of your job.

  6. You will be comfortable working both as part of team and on your own.

It is intended that this should be a full-time post, although a part time position (minimum 3 days a week) could be considered for an exceptional candidate. Our office is located in central London; although some homeworking is possible, you will frequently need to be in the office or visiting member companies. A full-time salary in the range £40 to £45,000 will be offered along with generous pension support. If you are interested in this post, please send your CV and a covering letter supporting your application to recruitment@UKflourmillers.org

Closing date for applications is Tuesday 19 April 2022.
